AssessPrep’s AI Grading Assistant helps you grade digital and handwritten responses more efficiently. It uses the mark scheme or teacher explanation you provide to suggest marks and personalised feedback

Pre-requisites

Add Mark Schemes or Teacher Explanations

When creating questions, provide detailed mark schemes or explanations. The AI uses these inputs, along with the question text and student responses, to evaluate answers accurately.

Grading Questions

Once students have submitted their responses, follow these steps to grade them using the AI Assistant:

Step 1: Open the Grading Tab

• Navigate to the Grading Section: Here, you can view all student responses.

Step 2: Select a Student Answer

• Click on any ungraded student answer to begin the grading process.
• For questions with student responses, you will see a "Grade with AI" button.
• If the button is disabled, it means that no teacher explanation or mark scheme has been added to the question.

Step 3: Choose Your Grading Mode

• Click on the settings icon next to "Grade with AI" cta to open the below popup where we can set global settings for grading.
  1. Decimal values in points - This will allow AI generated points to also be with decimal values, otherwise they will be whole numbers.
  2. Grading mode - Select grading modes according to your use - Standard, Lenient, Strict
  3. Feedback language - Select language in which you would like the AI comment during grading to be generated in.
  4. Feedback length - Set length of AI generated comment - Brief, Standard, Detailed
  5. Feedback tone & style - Set the tone & style for the generated comment - Encouraging, Neutral, Constructive, Formal, Friendly
  6. Additional Instructions - Any other information you would like to be catered to while grading assessment with AI.

Step 4: Grade with AI

• Click on the "Grade with AI" button to initiate the grading process.
• Points and Comments will be generated by the AI to the student's answer.
• Click "Use" to accept the AI-generated feedback.
• Remember, you can grade both typed and uploaded handwritten responses for each question.

Step 5: Review and Adjust Feedback

• You have complete control over the AI-generated feedback and can edit it as needed.
• To make changes, simply click on the feedback and either manually edit it or click on the Improve CTA to ask AI to improve the generated feedback. Here you can either add instructions yourself or choose from our pre-defined instructions.

Grading All Submissions

• Click on the "Grade All" cta to grade all submissions in one go.

• Post clicking on Grade all you will see a popup that asks if you would like to grade with AI only the un-graded student responses or would like to override existing grades too & grade all.

• Once Grade All is started it will take some time to go through all submissions & grade all questions for each submissions
• You have an option to stop the process or you can also go about your own work till the grading completes.

• Once the process is completed you will be able to see updated points & comments for each question against each submission.
