1. The Grading Tab: Your Command Center
When students start submitting assessments, navigate to the grading tab. Note the numbers next to the grading tab indicate the total student grades published versus the total submissions received, helping you to keep track of your progress.
2. Grid View: A comprehensive overview
This view provides a complete overview at a glance, showing student submissions, grading progress, uploaded documents, overall scores, and question-wise grades. Easily grade responses by question, section, or student. Read this article to understand the full functionality of the grading grid view.
3. Assigning Marks and Providing Dynamic Feedback
Grading Individual questions: Click the desired cell under a question number to open the student’s response and assign points and feedback. With auto-saving, you never have to worry about losing your progress.
Audio Feedback (Plus Plan Only): Record personalised audio feedback for students for a more engaged experience.
Note: For MYP Program, achievement level rubric: You can assign an achievement level out of 8 to each criterion (optional).
Annotating student’s typed answer: Select words, click the annotate icon, write comments, and save for interactive feedback.
Grading Entire Section: Click the question dropdown, select the desired section, and grade by scrolling to the desired question.
4. Navigating Like a Pro
Navigating between questions: Click on the arrow buttons to move to the previous or next question or click the double arrow button to quickly navigate to the next ungraded question. You can also click on the question number to open the dropdown and quickly move to another question.
Icons for Guidance: These icons next to the question numbers indicate important information about the questions:
Minus icon: ungraded question
Tick icon: graded question
File icon: handwritten submission or file attached
Navigating between students: Switch using arrow keys next to student names or click on the student name to open the dropdown and switch.
Advanced Tip: Use keyboard shortcuts like Shift + right/left arrow to navigate between questions and Shift+ up/down arrow to grade another student. Use control+shift + right arrow key to quickly move to the next ungraded question.
5.Strategies for Effective Grading: Question-Wise and Student-Wise
Student-Wise Grading: Keep the student constant and change questions to grade all for one student.
Question-Wise Grading: Keep the question constant and navigate between students to grade that specific question for all.
Viewing and Assigning Overall Grades
Click on the 'overall grades' on the top bar in the grading modal or on the 'total/overall' score for any student in the grid view to view or assign overall grades and feedback.
Note: For MYP achievement level rubric, use the criteria filter to view all questions for a particular criteria and then assign an overall achievement level for the entire assessment on that criteria.
6. Publishing and Unpublishing Results
Publishing individual results: Click the publish button on the top bar in the grading modal or in the actions dropdown next to the student name to publish the result for a particular student. This option is highlighted in grey until all questions are graded.
Note: Once the results are published, students can log into their AssessPrep accounts to check the grades and feedback assigned to them.
Publishing all results: Click “Publish all results” in the actions dropdown to publish results for all students at once.
Note: Results will only be published for those students for whom you have completed the grading.
Unpublishing results: Click the “Change grading” on the top bar in the grading modal or in the actions dropdown next to the student name to un-publish results for a particular student if you need to make any changes.
Unpublishing all results: Click “Unpublish all results” in the actions dropdown to unpublish results for all students at once.
7. Exporting Results to PDF or Excel
Export PDF allows you to share or archive student submissions, comments, and marks as a PDF.
Export to PDF for an individual student: Click “Export to PDF” under the actions dropdown next to the student name or in the top bar in the grading modal.
Exporting to PDF for all students: Click “Export all to PDF” to export PDFs for all students with one click.
Excel Export: Click “Export all to excel” under the actions dropdown on the top-right. This option is particularly useful if you need to export total and question-wise marks to Excel for further calculations or importing into another platform.
