Monitor Overview:
The Monitor tab allows teachers and invigilators to support and monitor your students during an assessment. When you switch to the 'Monitor' tab, you will see the 'Live Invigilation Dashboard' as shown below.
Here, you can see the list of students taking a test, their real-time progress, support and interact with them by using various functions and settings.
1. Search and Filter students:
-
- Here you can search students by their name.
- Filter students by test status: Started, Ended, and Submitted
- Filter students by their class: If multiple classes have been mapped to a particular test, you can filter the list by class.
2. Automatic Attendance:
Here you can see the count of students who could not join the test. When you click, it will open a list of students who are mapped but have not joined or started the test.
3. Student Count by Test Status
This shows an overall count of students based on their test status.
- All - Refers to the total number of students who have joined a test.
- Started - Refers to the number of students who have started the test.
- Ended - Refers to the number of students who have ended the test but not submitted it.
- Submitted - Refers to the number of students who have submitted the test.
4. Test Progress and Live Attempt Status:
You can view each student's progress percentage and the total number of attempted questions.
Live Attempt status - This option allows the teacher to see the questions attempted (Blue)/unattempted (Grey) by a particular student. You can see the test progress as a teacher by hovering over a student's test completion percentage. Note: Live attempt status is a premium feature only available under the plus plan.
Active Question: Teachers can also see in real-time the active question that the student is currently working on.
5. Student information:
-
Online/Offline Status: This shows if the student is currently online(Green) or offline(Red).
-
Device info: Shows the OS(Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android) and browser(Chrome, Firefox, Lockdown Browser, etc.) that the student is using while taking the test. If the student is using our lockdown app, you will see a lock symbol.
-
No. of uploads: You can see the total number of uploads by the particular student.
-
Focus Lost Count: In 'Any browser with security", whenever a student tries to leave the test window they'll get a 'Focus lost' alert and the invigilator would be notified about the same. This Focus lost Count lets you know the number of times the student went out of the test. To know more about the different Security modes, click here.
-
Timer shows the time remaining for a particular student in case of a timed assessment.
Test status shows the test status for a particular student, that is, if they have not started, started, ended, or submitted the test.
6. Individual Chat and Making Announcements
-
Individual Chat: The teacher can send a message to specific students during the exam via the chat function. The student may also send messages to the teacher, provided that the teacher is monitoring the exam.
-
Making Announcements - This feature allows the teacher to broadcast messages to all or multiple students in the monitoring tab at once.
Note: You can also select/deselect the students from the list in the monitoring tab and then type the message and click on send. The message would be received by the selected students.
7. Adding Extra Time:
This option allows the teacher to add extra time for a specific student. This is particularly useful in the case of students with special needs or unforeseen circumstances during a test wherein a student requires more time to complete the test.
Note: Time can only be added and not subtracted. Therefore, once the time has been added, it cannot be undone.
8. Force Submit:
This allows a teacher to force submit student answers from the monitor tab. Once force-submitted, the student test would be submitted and they would not able to continue writing the test. This is useful
- when a student forgot to submit their responses even after ending the test or after the time is over.
- If a student was caught cheating and you do not want the student to continue writing the test.
Note: Use with Caution - The force submit option submits the answers backed up on the AssessPrep cloud server every 30 seconds. If the student is offline, then their latest answers would not available on the cloud server and might lead to lost responses.
9. Student Activity Logs:
This is a record of all student activity logs during a test like:
- Start and End Date/Time
- OS and browser used to take the test
- Duration and Explanation for Focus Lost
- Teacher actions like Adding Extra Time, Force Submit, or Allow Resume
The 'Activity logs' can be found under the 'More' dropdown.
10. Report issue:
This allows a teacher or invigilator to report an issue to the AssessPrep Support Team if a student is facing any technical issue during the test. It is more useful to use this option rather than getting in touch directly as we get all relevant information about the student and test including Test ID, Student browser, and Device information.
This helps us resolve the issue faster and reduce the need for further information from the school.
