Teachers need clear, actionable insights so students can improve. The Analyse feature in AssessPrep gives you a detailed overview of how your class is doing — from overall scores to question-level performance to alignment with curriculum standards. This guide walks you through how to use it, step by step.
Getting started
Before you can access the Analyse tool, make sure you have:
Created the assessment.
Assigned it to your students.
Collected their submissions.
Graded all student responses.
Once everything’s graded, click the Analyse button. That’s where you’ll begin exploring the data.
Summary Tab
The Summary Tab gives you a holistic view — how the class did overall and where things might be off track.

Performance Metrics & Chart
- Average percentage: The average percentage of 77.3% provides a quick snapshot of overall class performance.
- Average score: The average score of 12 highlights how students performed in raw points relative to the total possible score.
- Highest score: The top-performing student achieved a score of 13, showcasing the best result in the class.
- Lowest score: The lowest-performing student scored 10, helping identify those who may need extra attention or support.
- Score distribution chart: This bar chart visually represents how students' scores are spread across score ranges. For instance, the chart shows that most students scored between 60–70, 70-80 & 80–90, helping you spot performance clusters or outliers at a glance.
Performance Metrics (Criteria)
- Users can select a specific criterion from the dropdown menu.
- Detailed performance metrics for the selected criterion are displayed:
- Average Percentage
- Average Score
- Highest Score
- Lowest Score
- This helps in analysing the performance of each criterion individually.
Questions Tab
The Questions tab in the Analyse feature allows teachers to focus on how students performed on individual questions. This tab provides detailed insights into question-level performance and highlights areas of strength and improvement.
Question Performance Bar Chart
Visual summary: for each question (e.g. Q1, Q2, etc.), the chart shows the average percentage score. Tall bars = questions well done; shorter = more problematic.
Question Breakdown Table
Below the chart, there’s a table that breaks down performance for each question.
- Questions : Lists the question numbers for easy reference.
- Type : Displays the type of question, such as MCQ, short answer, or essay.
- Standards : Indicates the learning standard or topic linked to the question, helping teachers identify specific curriculum areas where improvement is needed.
- Highest Points : Shows the maximum points a student could score on each question.
- Avg. Points : Reflects the average raw score earned by students on each question.
- Avg. % : Displays the average percentage score for the question, making it easy to compare performance across questions.
- Attempted % : Indicates the percentage of students who attempted the question. A lower percentage may highlight unclear instructions or difficulty understanding the question.
Standards Tab
The Standards tab in the Analyse feature helps teachers evaluate student performance based on specific learning standards. This feature provides a clear understanding of how students performed in relation to the curriculum objectives.
Standards Performance Bar Chart
- The bar chart at the top visualizes the average percentage scores for each standard.
- The X-axis represents the learning standards (e.g., "Understand," "Compare," "Interpret," etc.), while the Y-axis shows the average percentage scores.
- Taller bars indicate standards where students excelled, while shorter bars highlight standards where students struggled.
Standards Performance Table
Below the bar chart is a table that breaks down performance for each standard by student. The table includes:
- Students: Lists the names of the students in the assessment.
- Avg. %: Displays the overall average percentage score for each student.
- Standards (Columns 1, 2, 3, etc.): Shows the individual percentage scores achieved by each student for the corresponding standard.
Show Proficiency Levels Toggle
Teachers can use the Show Proficiency Levels toggle to switch between raw percentage scores and predefined proficiency levels (e. This helps categorize student performance and focus on targeted interventions.
