Paper Mode lets you design an assessment in AssessPrep and deliver it on paper. Students write their answers on printed sheets, which are then scanned and uploaded for digital grading. This is ideal for exam halls or settings where devices aren’t available

Creating the Assessment
- Go to **My Assessments** and click **Create**.
- Choose the program, subject and grade, then select **Paper Mode** as the delivery mode.
- Add sections and questions as you would for an online test.
Configure Delivery Settings
- In the Delivery tab, confirm that Paper Mode is selected.
- Set the start and end dates & upload document permissions as required.
- Map students and publish
- Click on the Assign tab & assign the test to specific students or classes
- Choose the options from the Assign specific classes or students section.
- Filter by Grade if required.
- Type the name of the student or class, select from the dropdown, and add them to the list.
After this is done, go to the Draft section on page header and click Publish to publish the assessment.
Export the Assessment

Open the Actions menu and choose the Export Assessment option.

Chose whether you wish to export a student pack or a teacher reference copy.
The Student pack option allows you to configure the assessment before downloading it. Configurations include;
- Separate answer sheets - The question paper will only consist of the questions and separate answer booklets with lines and spaces to answer will be available for printing.
- Question paper with answer spaces:- An integrated document consisting of space beneath each question for a student to answer.
- Adding or removing the cover page for the assessment
- Choosing whether to combine all PDF's into a single downloaded document or individual student files.
Note:- The panel on the right allows you to preview whatever changes you make before downloading the file.
The Teacher Reference Copy allows you to choose whether to include options;

Once you have previewed and verified all your configurations click Export on the top right corner of the page and the export will commence and you will be guided to downloading the final files.
- Print the documents and distribute them on exam day. Each paper includes a student code and QR codes to aid in mapping responses as shown in the preview.
- You will also receive an unlabelled answer sheet that you can distribute to students who were not mapped to your class or the assessment. Please make sure to have them enter their student code and name on top(this will help in mapping).
- If you need to do any changes to the export please choose "Export Again" which will again take you to the initial options and let you choose export configurations.
Bulk Upload and Auto-map Handwritten Submissions
Teachers should upload handwritten submissions on behalf of students. This ensures better accuracy and consistency in the submission process. For simplified upload use - Mobile App
Navigate to the Grading tab. Open the Actions dropdown and select Bulk Upload Answer Sheets
Create a ZIP file of all the handwritten submissions in jpg format. Drag and drop ZIP file (jpg only) into the upload area.
Click Submit to start the Auto mapping process.
After auto mapping is done, all mapped students will automatically appear in the grading grid. The system will automatically map answer sheets to the respective questions like showcased below

- Upon completion of auto-mapping, a tag will be displayed to notify teachers that the process is complete.
- For all students who had an uploaded handwritten submission, their submissions will be created and displayed in a table under the Grade tab
3. Click on the Upload column in the table. This will open a modal showing all images & what questions each image is mapped to.
4. Verify Image & question mapping
- On the left of the modal the teacher can see all images in a list format. Clicking on any list item previews the image on the right of the popup.
- Cross verify that correct images have been mapped to the student & that no invalid image has been mapped.
- Each list item also shows which all questions are mapped to each image.
- Cross-verify that correct questions have been mapped to images.

Update the image to question mapping by clicking on the '+' icon & selecting/de-selecting questions.
5. Archive/Un-archive an image
- An image can also be archived & archived images can also be viewed or retrieved back.

To archive an image, click on the trash icon against an image in the list shown. This will allow teacher to archive(soft-delete) an image.
- To view archived images select the 'Show archived files' checkbox & all archived images for the student will become visible.
- To restore archived images click the restore file icon & this will un-archive the image for the student submissions.
6. Upload more images against a student submission
- Upload more images for a student submission by clicking on the Upload button in the modal. Uploading an image & then clicking on Save to save the new image uploaded.
- Save your edits & upload - make sure to click on Save in the modal to save all your edits & uploads.
Grade with AI
Click on the name of student for the entire answer sheet of the respective student to appear on screen. You can also click on question number for respective answer sheet to appear
Choose the Grade with AI feature for automated grading. This can also analyse the handwritten submissions.
